Lindisfarne Care Home’s August Newsletter

Welcome from the Home Manager

As some of you may know, I joined the team on 7th July as interim manager. I am passionate about working with people and have a specific interest in dementia care. My career started as a carer and led on to care home management, quality improvement work, teaching and consultancy. I know from experience the work can be hard, so my aim is to respect and value individuals, so they feel cared for, and can do their job well. That is why I chose to work for Curo Care, their values align with my own.

This is my first newsletter. I hope you enjoy reading about Lindisfarne. - Virginia Irvine

You Said, We Did

  • New uniforms — Staff asked for a smarter, more consistent look. We've agreed on dark blue uniforms with easy-to-read yellow name badges, on order this month.

  • New menus — Our kitchen team has rolled out a new four-week menu with home-cooked soups, traditional mains and hot desserts. Feedback so far has been great.

  • Local community links — Resident Maureen suggested closer ties with local churches. Local minister Oliver Preston now visits four times a year, and is creating a sensory activity box for residents.

Celebrating Our People

25 Years of Service — Carole Ogden, Housekeeping Team

Carole was honoured for a remarkable 25 years at Lindisfarne. Mike Kneafsey, one of Curo Care's owners, visited personally to thank her — and she went home with flowers, vouchers, a home-made cake and a well-earned night away.

Employee of the Month — Nathan Clarke, Kitchen Assistant

Nathan has grown in confidence this month, driving real improvements in the kitchen. He knows residents' personal preferences inside out, and brings warmth, honesty and pride to everything he does.

Bringing the Community In

To mark World Photography Day, residents chose new wall art from photos of Haworth — including local landmarks, the high street and (a popular request) the chip shop! The photos will help decorate the home and support residents with wayfinding.

Get Involved

Got ideas for activities or trips? We'd love to hear them. And if you can spare a moment, please consider reviewing us on Carehome.co.uk — it helps future residents and their families know what to expect.
