Welcome to Hames Hall

Located just outside the market town of Cockermouth, Hames Hall is a Georgian country house set in three acres of private grounds. The building’s original character is still very much present, offering a sense of calm and continuity that residents and families often comment on.

DAILY LIFE

Life at Hames Hall

Hames Hall provides residential, dementia, respite and palliative care for up to 25 residents. Each bedroom is comfortably furnished, and shared spaces offer both companionship and quiet. Residents are encouraged to bring their own belongings and shape their rooms to suit them. 

Our approach is calm and steady, focused on dignity and stability. Staff are experienced in managing a range of needs and are supported by regular input from local health professionals. The surrounding gardens and views of the Lakeland fells are a daily source of peace and enjoyment. 

ENRICHMENT

Activities and Wellbeing

The home’s beautiful grounds offer space for walking, sitting outdoors or simply enjoying the view. Inside, activities are tailored to suit the people living here - from art and music to gentle movement and quiet reading. Social events and visiting entertainers also bring energy and variety to daily life. 

Residents are free to join in as much or as little as they like. What matters is that they feel relaxed and able to enjoy each day in their own way.

Food and Mealtimes

Meals at Hames Hall are freshly prepared with care and attention. Our kitchen team cooks food that’s both comforting and nourishing, taking into account each person’s preferences and any dietary needs. 

We understand that food is about more than nutrition — it’s also about enjoyment and routine. Whether it’s a Sunday roast or a favourite pudding, we do our best to make meals something to look forward to.

Angela Dawson leads the team at Hames Hall. With many years of experience in care, Angela brings steady leadership and a thoughtful, resident-first approach. She believes in building strong relationships with families and supporting her team to provide care that feels personal and dignified.
